The 16th “Sin City” Classic Major kicks off the 21st season of the Conference USSSA league with 32 men’s teams and 14 women’s teams at the Big League Dreams park and Arroyo Grande Sports Complex in Las Vegas, Nevada! The tournament begins Friday, March 27th at 8:00 AM Pacific time. All games on all 7 fields will be streamed on USSSALive.com. Check the USSSA Chat Room to make sure the livestream is working before purchasing. This year they are using two different parks for the men’s games because half of the 6 fields at the Big League Dreams park are being renovated. All men’s teams will start at Arroyo Grande, which has 4 dirt fields and they will use those fields from 8 AM Friday morning until 2:30 PM Friday afternoon. Then the men shift over to Big League Dreams park early Friday evening because there are local league games scheduled for Arroyo Grande. On Saturday the men again start at Arroyo Grande from 8 AM until the last game at 6:30 PM. Then, the remainder of the men’s tournament Saturday night and Sunday is played at the Big League Dreams. The women will be at Big League Dreams for the entirety of both their dual tournaments.
The men are playing just one double elimination tournament and the team list features 15 teams from the Conference USSSA. There will be 180 + (15 x 4) = 240 points awarded to the winning team, 200 for 2nd place, 180 for 3rd, 170 for 4th, 160 5th, 150 7th, 140 9th, 120 13th, 110 24th, and 60 for everyone else. Juno Athletics / LSR (NJ-Major), the only Major team in the tournament will be the favorite. They have a similar roster to the team that finished 4th in the points last year, but added infielder Dan Herren, professional hitter Filip Washington, and the 2024 Major World Series MVP Greg Connell. They lost Josh Riley, Mitch Lendenski, Brandon Jackson, Jacob Neal, and Joe Boland. They should be pushed hard by the two ‘AA’ teams. I-57 Roofing/Beloli SIS/All Hustle (IL-AA) who finished 2nd at the ‘AA’ last year added multi-time ‘AA’ Champ Jeff Roxby, professional hitter Steve Edwards, infielder Adam Ussery, outfielder Josh Kirsten, and backup pitcher Ian Heizer who won the ‘B’ Worlds last year. BeHappy/StandardPlumbing (AZ-AA) a long time ‘A’ team moves up to ‘AA’ this year adding Matt Brady, Tre Porter, and Justin Lutheran from Chick-fil-a, Joel Sanchez from Sports Reach, pitcher Kyle Johnson from WestPoint, and Zack Smith from Bay Area Legends, among others to last year’s ‘A’ team that qualified for the Major. There are also 5 ‘A’ teams that could make some noise like Chris Greinert’s – GREINERT – KOVAL – BAF (MD-A) with Cabot Van Til, Brian Zirkle, Eric Mattos, pitcher Eric Keller, and Josh Moore. Primetime/Marucci/Ballhawk (GA-A) who picked up Daniel Cayton for the weekend. A new Conference ‘A’ team from Florida called ACS/Easton who moved up from ‘C’. And two non-conference ‘A’ teams CLASSY / SLM / PROTON / NVH (AZ-A) and Shut-D (Hawaii-A). There are always some great upsets at the Las Vegas Major and some new talent that bursts onto the scene so it should be interesting. Unfortunately the weather looks unusually hot for this time of year in the 90’s…
There are 14 teams in the women’s dual tournaments starting Friday morning at 8 AM Pacific time and ending Sunday morning. There are 4 women’s Major teams in the event, led by Derby Girls/Smash It/Resmondo (WA-Major) the defending Major World Series champions. Derby Girls will be challenged by Juno Athletics / LSR (NJ-M), Incognito/Miken (MI-M), and returning to conference action after a year away, LaFamiglia (PA-M) led by Tom Wingard. With the fence distances at Big League Dreams park, Las Vegas has some of the most entertaining women’s slow pitch games of the year.
I hope everyone has a great season and want to thank USSSA for their continued support of the Conference which is “THE SHOWCASE” of slow pitch softball. I also want to thank the sponsors of these teams for all of the hard work, headaches, and stress it takes to put these teams on the field. Let’s have a safe and competitive season and make great memories!
The Conference is using the live stats app again this year called BallClubz. Here is a link to the Conference BallClubz stats for the 2025 season.
