The “Windy City” major is this Friday and Saturday at the McCaslin Park in Carol Stream, Illinois just outside of Chicago. On the men’s side there are 14 teams from 10 different states and 9 of them are from the Conference USSSA. The double elimination tournament will start at 5 PM Central time Friday and finish Saturday night. The infields at McCaslin park are artificial turf and the weather looks fairly good. The Dudley Pro-M ball flies in Chicago depending upon which field you are on and what the wind is doing. Looking at the bracket there are no Major teams but 3 good ‘AA’ teams – Westpoint the #1 seed, I-57 Roofing the #2 seed, and Ataraxis the #3 seed. There will be 180 + (9 x 4) = 216 Conference Points given to the winner, 176 to 2nd, 156 to 3rd, 146 to 4th and so on. A good 1st round matchup to watch is I-57 Roofing’s ‘B’ team playing Nebraska ‘B’ team T’s 13 with the winner playing the ‘AA’ I-57 Roofing team. Comatose and Legendz play in the 1st round as well which could be a good game. Fisher’s who won the Connecticut Major over Chick-fil-a is in this tournament. Scott Routing a ‘C’ team from Indiana could be a tough out with 5 Bontrager’s, 4 Miller’s, and 2 Mast’s on the team. There really are no bad teams in this tournament and with the Pro-M ball there should be a fair amount of upsets. But in the end look for one of the ‘AA’ teams to emerge after a long day Saturday with the semifinals being at 9:45 AM and the “if” game being at 9 PM. On the women’s side there are 5 teams starting at 11:30 AM on Saturday and ending with the championship set for 7 PM. Broughton, DBrand, Belly’s, and Pork Pistols will battle it out over on field #2.
