Nitro Circus slugger Chris Greinert tries to “double dip” LSR in Las Vegas!
Conference USSSA kicked off their 19th season in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Big League Dreams park with 35 men’s teams this past weekend April 5-7, 2024. The favorite Nitro/Beloli/Ataraxis/SBT/SOL/BAF/K (MD-AA) was surviving and advancing until the winner’s bracket final where although they won the game over LSR they were found to have too many bats in the bat testing bucket and when that happens bats are retested and if any fail the game is a forfeit. 3 bats failed testing during the re-test and Nitro Circus had to forfeit the game to LSR. On Sunday in the loser’s bracket Nitro Circus knocked off NFM Lending/KB/Chasse/BeHappy (AZ-A) 24-8 in the loser’s bracket finals then beat LSR/BaughFord/TRU/LouisvilleSlugger (IN-A) 43-39 to force the “if” game, and then left LSR on the field 32-17 in the 5th inning of the final game to win the season opener!

Derby Girls/OA/Miken/Easton/Worth (WA-Major) the #1 seed was powering their way through the Las Vegas “Sin City” Classic winning their 1st 3 games and averaging almost 25 runs a game. Then they ran into #2 seed MONSTA / LAFAMIGLIA / GTL (FL-Major) and the much anticipated showdown between the two powerhouses in the winner’s bracket final Saturday night! The game lived up to its billing as the two teams combined for 57 runs and 9 homer’s. Monsta scored 8 runs in the top of the 6th to take a 26-15 lead but Derby Girls answered with a 10 run inning of their own to make it 26-25. In the 7th both teams scored 3 and Monsta won 29-28. Sarah Davis led Monsta 5-5 with 8 RBI. On Sunday morning though Derby Girls had their revenge winning 3 straight to take the tournament. They beat MyAutoJack 32-8 then “double dipped” Monsta 26-15 and 17-16 to win the season opener.
