It is now tradition for the Conference USSSA men’s teams to travel to the great Smoky Mountains for the Classic the 2nd weekend in July each year.  34 teams overall and 21 from the Conference played the double elimination tournament at 6 fields in Maryville, TN which is considered the top slow pitch regular season tournament in the world.  And it is UNLIMITED home runs!  Coming into the classic there had been 4 different winner’s in the last 4 years – Dan Smith in 2020, Smash It Sports 2021, Sonny’s 2022, and Resmondo in 2023.  This years favorite to win was again Resmondo/All American Restoration/O (FL-Major) and they did not disappoint.  Resmondo run ruled their way to the winner’s final where they ran into a buzzsaw in Juno Athletics who put up 30 runs in the top of the 1st inning against them.  But Resmondo, never out of any game with their powerful offense, methodically came back and pulled off a 73-61 win finishing at 1:30 am Sunday morning to advance to the championship.  On Sunday Juno beat RoofX to get back to the championship game and came out and led Resmondo 31-6 early on before Resmondo again methodically came back to win a 61-45 victory in 6 innings.  As the old adage goes in racing, “win on Sunday, sell on Monday”.  Congratulations to Brett, the sponsorship group, the players, and Rawlings for their victory.
