The 4 men’s Major teams and some of the top ‘AA’ teams in the nation met in Columbus, Georgia for the Chattahoochee Major at the South Commons Sportsplex. They played on 300 foot fields with the Dudley Pro-M ball. RoofX/Thunder/BD/CE/Chosen/RF/Pure (IN-Major) won their 3rd tournament of the year and first on 300 foot fields. They knocked off I-57 Roofing/AXE/SHIRTSandLOGOS/SA (IL-AA) 45-43 in one of the best games of the year. I-57 Roofing had upset Resmondo-SIS-Skoni-StubTerm-RDD-S&S in the semifinals 36-20. In the loser’s bracket Resmondo recovered to beat Westpoint, Proton, and got some revenge themselves by beating I-57 to get back to the championship where RoofX squeaked out a 29-28 victory. So I-57 was third and Proton/Str8play/Rebel (CA-Major) who had lost their first game Friday night to Resmondo, wound up winning 4 straight in the loser’s bracket to finish 4th. I have 8 condensed games coming in the next week from this tournament. There were some good ones! Conference USSSA is off next week and then the Seattle Dual begins on Thursday, June 26th.

DBbrand/Treedem/Easton an ‘A’ team based out of Pennsylvania did the unthinkable and won the winner’s bracket of the stacked Chattahoochee Major beating the #1 team in the nation, Team 24 in the quarterfinals 9-5, then Rogue 8-7 in the semifinals, and Juno 8-7 in the winner’s final. Juno Athletics then dropped to the loser’s final and knocked off Derby Girls 11-1 before “double dipping” DBbrand in the finals 10-9 in 10 innings and then 14-5 in the “if” game. It was Juno’s 2nd tournament win of the season.
