Str8play hits against RoofX in the semifinals of the 2024 Cactus Classic!
Conference USSSA rolled into Mesa, Arizona May 10-12, 2024 with 12 teams from the league including all 4 Major teams. They played at the AZ Athletic Grounds with their 325-355-385-355-325 foot baseball fields in great weather with the Dudley Hardcore ball. It was the ‘AA’ team Str8play/Rebel/MAJ (CA-AA) who did the previously unthinkable and run ruled the previously undefeated Resmondo/All American Restoration (FL-Major) team 33-17 Saturday night. And after Dirty Vegas upset Juno Athletics and Classic Glass upset Sonny’s, only 2 Major teams made it to Sunday where RoofX eliminated Resmondo in the loser’s bracket finals 31-16. Then in the championship game early Sunday afternoon Str8play knocked off RoofX 27-26 to become one of only a handful of teams in Conference history to win a tournament where 4 Major teams were present, and to do so as a non-major team. Interestingly enough 3 of the ‘AA’ teams that have done it in the past were last year – Chick-fil-a in Texas, JBL in Evansville, and Classic Glass at the Conference Championships.

On the women’s side Monsta/LaFamiglia/GTL (FL-Major) went undefeated knocking off Derby Girls/OA/Miken/Easton/Worth (WA-Major) 21-15 in the winner’s final and again 13-10 in the championship to win their 4th tournament of the year, 3rd in a row!
