In the 1st game of the day, deep in the loser’s bracket Nitro Circus came out flat and never recovered as Roofx scored 4 or more runs in every inning on their way to a 20 run mercy rule win 22-2.  Roofx middle infielder Jeremy Fry was on base all 4 times and hit 3 home runs and knocked in 7 RBI as they out homered Nitro Circus 6-0.

In the next game Classic Glass continued their great play on baseball fields scoring 14 runs in the top of the 1st inning vs Smashit/Bay Area as lefty Blake Lively hit a grand slam.  Smash It Sports crawled back into the game in the 4th inning scoring 7 runs but Classic Glass held them off 29-20 to advance.  Third baseman Shannon Smith was on base 6-6 and scored 4 runs in the win for Classic Glass.

Game #29 Recap – 12:00 PM

At noon Roofx took to the field again, this time against the #3 seeded Major team Competitive Edge who finished 2nd as a ‘AA’ team the year before in 2022.  Roofx and CE were matching each others energy in the first two innings with Roofx having a 13-9 lead.  But Roofx opened up in the top of the 3rd inning scoring 13 runs, 11 before they made the first out, and cruised to a 29-11 run rule win in 5 innings.  Roofx out homered CE 14-5 and had 21 extra base hits to 6.  Roofx center fielder Brandon Yoder was 4-5 with 4 HR and 9 RBI.

Game #30 Recap – 2:00 PM

#12 Classic Glass (CA-AA)

vs

#4 MPT Rentals/Juno Athletics (NJ-Major)

At 2 PM Classic Glass played MPT with the winner going to the 4th place game.  Classic scored 4 total in the top of the 1st as Ryan Ramirez hit a 3 run homer.  But MPT scored 10 in the bottom of the 1st and then held down Classic Glass with some good pitching and solid defense to slowly pull away to a 24-9 run rule win.  MPT out homered Classic Glass 9-2 as Daniel Cayton was 5-5.

Game #32 Recap – 4:00 PM

#5 Roofx/Revolution/Albicocco (IN-AA)

vs

#4 MPT Rentals/Juno Athletics (NJ-Major)

At 4 PM it was a rematch from earlier in the tournament between Roofx and MPT Rentals and many feel this was the best game of the tournament.  I highly recommend watching the condensed game at the link above before reading any further…  🙂  Both teams scored crooked numbers in all but 1 of the 7 innings and there were great plays, clutch hits, and grand slams a plenty.  Roofx scored 9 in the top of the 2nd to get out to a 12-3 lead but MPT answered with 5 in the 4th and 5 in the 5th to close to within 7.  The flood gates opened in the 6th as Roofx scored 12 but MPT answered with 14!  Roofx added 4 in the top of the 7th on 2 run homer’s by Terry Lambright and Jon Troyer to go up by 9 and they held MPT to 5 in the bottom of the 7th and Roofx won 38-34.  Lambright led the offense 6-6  3 HR  5 RBI.

Game #33 Recap – 6:00 PM

#5 Roofx/Revolution/Albicocco (IN-AA)

vs

#2 Sonny’s/Worsham/RedAthlete (NC-Major)

The loser’s bracket finals began after 6 PM Saturday night as it started to cool off and the Dudley Stadium ZN ball continued to fly.  Roofx playing their 4th game of the day just could not put together a big inning and Sonny’s put up 13 in the bottom of the 2nd and 12 in the bottom of the 4th to go up 26-10 and they did not have to hit in the bottom of the 5th as they held Roofx to 1 run (26-11 final).  Sonny’s out homered Roofx 11-3 and Steele Lewis led the offense 4-4  3 HR  7 RBI.

Game #34 Recap – 8:00 PM

#2 Sonny’s/Worsham/RedAthlete (NC-Major)

vs

#1 Resmondo/SIS/All-American (FL-Major)

Link to condensed game

The championship began after 8 PM Saturday night in perfect weather with no humidity, the stadium field with its 325-365-385-365-325 outfield fence dimensions, and a really good Dudley Stadium ZN ball.  And for me to do justice and write about the championship and what happened inning by inning would be a dis-service to softball because it was quite frankly a laser light show fireworks display that has never been seen before!  Sonny’s and Resmondo were tied at 7-7 after one inning and then Sonny’s UNLEASHED 23 runs on 21 hits and 12 home runs in the top of the 2nd to go up 30-7.  Resmondo answered with 10 in the 3rd and 9 in the 4th but Sonny’s put the favorite away 51-26 by scoring 18 in the top of the 4th and holding Resmondo scoreless to win by the run rule and force the “if” game.  Sonny’s out homered Resmondo 30-13 and Jon Nelson led the offense 6-6  5 HR  8 RBI.

Jon Nelson was 6-6 with 5 HR

Game #35 Recap – 8:00 PM

Pearson set the tone in the “if” game going 7-7.

#1 Resmondo/SIS/All-American (FL-Major)

vs

#2 Sonny’s/Worsham/RedAthlete (NC-Major)

Link to condensed game

In the “if” game Resmondo was visitors and again the laser light fireworks show began as Resmondo scored 15 on 17 hits and 9 home runs in the 1st and 17 on 15 hits and 10 home runs in the 2nd to go up 32-3 and they cruised to the Major World Series title winning 46-11 in 4 innings.  They out homered Sonny’s 27-6 and the batting title champ Kyle Pearson led the way 7-7  3 HR  5 RBI.  Congratulations to Resmondo for a dominating season and another World Championship!  And thank you to Sonny’s for giving us that “if” game because that crowd did not want to go home early.
