Day #3 was all loser’s bracket games until nightfall when the winner’s bracket finals was played between Sonny’s and Resmondo.  The day began with Primetime vs JBL.  A number of players were delayed getting to the game by a big car accident on I-95 near the stadium.  Primetime though got off to what they thought was a good start scoring 5 runs on homer’s by Rod Armour and Torey Means.  But JBL came in and put up a 10 spot as Adam Ussery tied the game at 5 on a 3 run homer and Ussery, Cody Roton, and Brian McBryde hit back to back to back jacks!  Both teams scored in every inning and it was a good game until the very end but Primetime left the bases loaded in two different innings and that was the difference in the game as JBL advanced 28-24 out homering Primetime 9-5.  JBL’s “Lazer” Dave Johnson and Brian McBryde were each 5-5.

Game #14 Recap – 9:30 AM

Ryan Ramirez goes 5-5 with 3 HR.

#13 Westpoint (IN-AA)

vs

#12 Classic Glass (CA-AA)

In the next game Westpoint scored 7 in the top of the 1st getting 6 straight hits to start the game.  But Classic Glass had 2 home runs in the first two innings from Ryan Ramirez, one of them was a grand slam to go up 17-9.  Westpoint fought back with 6 in the top of the 5th but entered the 7th down 8 and ended up scoring 6 to make it interesting but a hurt Dan Bean at pitcher for Classic Glass gutted out a 25-23 win.  Ryan Ramirez led the way for Classic Glass 5-5  3 HR  9 RBI.  He was the difference along with some great defense by 2nd baseman Billy Wright!

Game #15 Recap – 11:00 AM

Joey Capp 4-4.

#18 Epic/Haymak/Kilmans (SC-A)

vs

#7 Nitro Circus/Candy Shop (MD-AA)

At 11 AM Nitro Circus took down Epic 21-9 out homering them 6-4 and scoring at least 1 run in every inning.  Joseph Capparelli the Conference rookie of the year was on base 4-4 with a homer and 4 RBI in the win.

Game #16 Recap – 12:30 PM

#16 LSR/TG/BAF/Nitro Circus (IN-A)

vs

#9 S&E/Baugh Ford/Proton (NC-AA)

Link to condensed game

At noon it was LSR scoring 12 runs in the top of the 1st as the 1st 8 batters reached base safely and John Franklin and Andrew Hall hit home runs.  But S&E who looked like they were rolling over early on came to life in the bottom of the 6th scoring 16 runs on homer’s by Joel Sanchez, Jimmy Ward, Jacob Hoskins, and Jordan Robinson to take a 31-21 lead and then left LSR on the field scoring 5 more in the bottom of the 6th.  Rich Racobaldo was 5-5 with 3 HR and 5 RBI in the win.

Rich Racobaldo 5-5.

Game #21 Recap – 2:00 PM

#8 Sports Reach/Demarini/CT (KY-AA)

vs

#7 Nitro Circus/Candy Shop/Ataraxis (MD-AA)

In game #21 on your bracket Sports Reach jumped out to a 14-0 lead on Nitro Circus going into the bottom of the 2nd where Nitro scored 12 to get back in the game.  Then Nitro nickeld and dimed their way to victory when they were down 2 in the bottom of the 7th and got a clutch 3 run walk off homer by Daniel Herren to win it 24-23!  Herren was 4-5 in the game and earlier had a key RBI triple as well.

Daniel Herren wins it with a walk off homer.

Game #22 Recap – 3:30 PM

A bit of a pillow fight between two rivals.

#6 JBL/D1/Tailgaters (OH-AA)

vs

#5 Roofx/Revolution/Albicocco (IN-AA)

Link to condensed game

In the mid afternoon game it was the ‘AA’ World finalists JBl taking on their nemesis Roofx.  And it was an odd game as Roofx hit just 1 home run and JBL 0?  Almost as if they weren’t using the same ball as some of the other games.  It was a defensive battle and a pitcher’s dual until the bottom of the 5th when Roofx who was ahead 4-3 got a 2 out 3 run homer from Brandon Yoder to go up 8-3 which in this game felt like an insurmountable lead.  And it was as Roofx went on to win 8-4 and there were just 16 hits in the game.

Game #23 Recap – 5:00 PM

Smash It’s Jason Martel goes yard 4 times while S&E’s entire team hits just 3.

#11 SmashIt/Bay Area (CA-AA)

vs

#9 S&E/Baugh Ford/Proton (NC-AA)

Link to condensed game

At the 5 PM game it was the Jason Martel show as he went 4-5 with 4 HR and 8 RBI in a game where again the ball didn’t seem to be flying all that great and their opponent S&E hit just 3 home runs total.  S&E blanked in the first two innings and never could get untracked as Smash It advanced to Saturday 27-23.

Game #31 Recap – 9:00 PM

#2 Sonny’s/Worsham/RedAthlete (NC-Major)

vs

#1 Resmondo/SIS/All-American (FL-Major)

Conference Season Awards were given out before the winner’s bracket finals.

Kyle Pearson won the batting title.  Bradley Jones won the Offensive MVP.  Heath Barnes won the Defensive MVP.

Because it was getting late they played the winner’s bracket finals before the last loser’s bracket game between Chick-fil-a and Classic Glass.  #2 seed Sonny’s got off to a rough start as one player went down on strikes in the top of the 1st and Heath Barnes trying to stretch a single into a double was thrown out.  Then Resmondo came in and scored 21 runs in an inning that resembled a home run derby more than it did a softball game.  Sonny’s put up a zero in the top of the 2nd and Resmondo scored 12 in the bottom of the 3rd winning by the 20 run rule in the 4th 35-15 without even having to bat in the bottom of the 4th.  Josh Riley and Kyle Pearson were each 5-5 with 3 HR and Resmondo out homered Sonny’s 15-7.

Phil Matte continues a huge bottom of the 1st for Resmondo.

Game #24 Recap – 10:30 PM

Classic’s Greg Downing goes 4-5 with 2 triples.

#12 Classic Glass (CA-AA)

vs

#10 Chick-fil-a/Slugger/BAF (VA-AA)

Link to condensed game

In the nightcap Classic Glass and Chick-fil-a each forgot how to hit as it was just 2-0 CFA going into the 4th inning.  And it was all Classic Glass from the 4th inning on as they won 24-8 out homering CFA 5-0 and Greg Downing was the offensive player of the game going 4-5 with 2 triples and 6 RBI.
