After out scoring Classic Glass 4-2 in the 5th, Nitro Circus pitcher Tom Bloom got a strike out looking in the top of the 6th and center fielder Cabot Van Til made a diving catch to hold Classic to zero. Nitro quietly picked up the victory from their 17-10, out homering Classic 4-2, with Classic leaving 10 runners on base. Greinert was 3-4 with a single, double, and homer in the game and 4 RBI. For Classic, manager Kyle Lee ended up an impressive 3-4.

Back on the Red Marucci field Sonny’s popped out twice in the infield and hit 2 solo home runs in the top of the 1st vs Str8play then pitcher Bill Pinkham stabbed a liner in self defense in the bottom of the inning to hold Str8play scoreless. When St8rplay zeroed in the bottom of the 6th, going down in order 1-2-3 it sort of felt like no one wanted to win this game? Game #17 Recap – 11:00 AM
MWS Game #17 – I-57 Roofing vs Resmondo condensed game link
#8 I-57 Roofing/Beehy’s/Royce Geo/SA (IL-A)
vs
#1 Resmondo/All American/Restoration/O (FL-Major)
The last game of the day was in the stadium and it turned out to be the best game of the tournament as hurricane Milton bearing down on Viera, Florida and causing a couple of lightning delays. In the top of the 1st inning it was I-57 Roofing’s Zane Migues opening the game with a long home run just to the left of the batters eye in center field but they onl scored 1 run as Resmondo left fielder Jason Matusik robbed a home run off of Orlando Olivera to end the half inning. In the bottom of the 2nd Greg Connell put Resmond up 2-1 on a 2 run homer. In the 2nd inning the flood gates opened as Zane Migues made Resmondo pay for a misplay and hit a bomb off the little league dugout passed the parking lot in right field and Jake Hathaway homered to make it an 8 run inning and a 9-2 lead. In the bottom of the 2nd Resmondo answered with homers by Travis Clark, Tyler Marshburn, Kevin Bazat, Bradley Jones, Phil Matte, and Marshburn homered again in a 12 run inning to go up 14-9. I-57 continued to use the wind blowing out to their advantage in the top of the 3rd scored 13 runs and making Resmondo pay for 6 wind aided walks. In the bottom of the 3rd Resmondo scored 5 runs after the 2nd out bolstered by a 3 r hr by Bubba Mack to pull within 2 runs 22-20. In the top of the 4th I-57 added 4 runs after 2 quick outs as pitcher Mitchell Carriger hit a bases loaded double and Marcus Yoder an RBI double to go up 26-20. And I-57 turned a double play in the bottom of the 4th to hold Resmondo scoreless. But I-57 answered with a zero of their own in the top of the 5th and Resmondo scored 7 runs on a 2 run triple by Phil Matte and then 3 straight homers by Clark, Mack, and Marshburn to go up 27-26. Things only got crazier in the top of the 6th when I-57 scored 7 runs on a 3 run homer by Carriger and a 2 run pinch hit single by Steve Myers to go up 33-27. In the inning there was a controversial “challenge” by Resmondo who said a scoring runner missed 3rd base. Somehow even though the video was inconclusive the challenge was granted and they took a run off the board for I-57 and gave the out? In the bottom of the 6th I-57’s David Yoder mad a leaping catch in right field and Jake Hathaway made a nice play on a grounder to hold Resmondo to 1 run. The 7th inning began with wind and rain and I-57 with a narrow 33-28 lead. The first batter made an out and lightning again delayed the game. With local police saying the roads were going to be closing due to the approaching hurricane, the decision was made to postpone the game and everyone left for the day.
The game resumed 2 days later after the hurricane and aftermath cleanup from it. I-57 picked up where they left off as Nic Perkins homered and Marcus Yoder hit a dramatic inside the park homer to go up 36-31. In the bottom of the 7th Travis Clark homered and Everett Williams hit a 2 run shot but down 5 with 2 outs they just didn’t have enough and lost 36-31. Resmondo was suddenly buried in the loser’s bracket… Resmondo out homered I-57 in the game 17-8 but I-57 had a wind aided 17-11 walk advantage and made some great plays defensively to pull off one of the biggest upsets of the year.
