4 The Fallen/Miken, an ‘A’ team based out of Phoenix, Arizona came out of nowhere to win the first Combat Major “Dual” tournament in Kent, Washington. They went 5-0 in the first tournament which started on Thursday and ended on Saturday morning. “Fallen” who was just 5-8 in the Nationwide Conference USSSA coming into the tournament, knocked off Classic Glass, Team Combat, and Sonny’s twice en route to the title.
On Saturday after winning the first tournament they started the second event with three wins in a row including beating Famous and Sonny’s again. Then they forfeited in the winner’s bracket championship game when they apparently didn’t have enough players to continue when their pitcher, Dan Bean, was hit in the helmet and came out of the game. Sunday, in the loser’s bracket they run ruled OC Swats and were beating Team Combat in the first game of the championship but suddenly had to leave for the airport for their flights home. Fallen won nine games on the weekend and put themselves in position to get back into the Major World Series points race.
Team Combat ended up winning the second “Dual” going 5-0 and won their first Nationwide Conference event of the season and earned a much needed 180 points. Combat may need to add some of the big tournaments in Chicago or Cincinnati in order to make the Major World Series and/or improve their seed.
