Blitz and 1st Step met for the second time Sunday morning for the B World Series Championship game. They had previously played each other Saturday afternoon when Blitz made a late comeback to knock the newly classified B team, 1st step, into the Loser’s Bracket.
1st step made it through the Loser’s Bracket, beating the first seeded Down2Earth Sports as well as Doerflinger, in order to make it back to the Championship game for a rematch against Blitz.
1st step quickly put some runs on the board thanks to a three-run homer early in the first inning. But Blitz’s Jason Roesch responded with a two-run RBI. It looked as if 1st Step was going to add to its 4-3 lead when they had bases loaded in the second inning, but Blitz was able to retire the side with no runs scored. A homerun in the second inning to deep right field by Kessler put Blitz in the lead 7-4. Another two-run homer by Blitz in the third, followed by homeruns from Blitz’s Jamison and Tabler in the fourth seemed to silence the bats of 1st Step, as they went 3 innings without scoring. 1st Step made some mid-game pitching changes but Blitz continued to bring in the runs, winning the World Series Championship game 22-6 in only 5 innings.
