Abra Wins “D” World Series

Team Abra out of Salt Lake City, UT won the D World Series last weekend at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports. Abra went 11-1 for the week en route to their first World Championship. They scored 139 runs in the tournament while allowing only 59. The highest point of their week was scoring 30 runs in a game in the Florida heat while the lowest point was getting dropped into the losers bracket.

Clint Haveron won the tournament MVP while Matt Newbold won the Offensive Tournament MVP. Abra had 8 players on the All-Tournament Team. Abra had an overall record of 34-7 for the year heading into the World Series but kept their eye on the prize and won their first World Tournament. As a fan you can look for them to be bumped up to C and be a force to be reckoned with in the C World Series in 2012.
