Men’s Texas Legends Major

The 2026 Texas Legends Major was played April 25-27 at the Parks at Texas Star (formerly Softball World) on 300-305-310-305-300 with the best Pro-M ball ever used in a 300 foot tournament. Managers and sponsors were telling me the games, especially at night, were “dangerous”. The tournament was played in mostly warm and humid weather. Once the stats come in we will see that the on base percentages and runs scored per 7 innings will be the highest in Conference history. The tournament began with 25 teams and 14 were from Conference USSSA. The higher Major and ‘AA’ Conference teams all made it to the “Round of 8” Saturday afternoon unscathed. Resmondo (FL-Major) beat Worshams (NC-AA) 56-29. Dirty Vegas (TX-A) upset Shore (CA-Major) 37-36. #1 seed I-57 Roofing (IL-AA) beat GTL (WA-B) 41-31. And Legendz (OK-AA) upset Dan Smith (IN-Major) 47-39. The semifinals were both blowouts as Resmondo beat Dirty Vegas 56-15, scoring 27 runs on 6 home runs before the first out in the top of the 3rd, and 38 runs on 9 home runs for the inning total. In the other semifinal I-57 Roofing beat Legendz 38-13 and it was clear that Resmondo and I-57 had superior ball striking throughout the lineup this past weekend. In the winner’s final Saturday night Resmondo grabbed an early lead on I-57 in the top of the 1st inning but a massive and dangerous lightning storm delayed the tournament until Sunday morning. When the winner’s bracket finals resumed at 8 am, the game lasted 2 hours and 40 minutes, and I-57 pulled off the upset with a bases loaded two out single by Nick Perkins to win the game 52-51! The loser’s bracket finals then was the big matchup between Dan Smith and Resmondo. They are 2-2 vs each other this year. Resmondo pulled this one out in a 59-53 game and advanced to the finals. The games on Sunday were taking 23 minutes per inning to play because of all the scoring. If you extrapolate that timing all the way out from the loser’s final to the end of the “IF” game you would calculate a 7:15 PM end time Sunday night. The championship began and they played 4 innings but I-57 had to make their flights and USSSA leadership citing the rule book, declared a double forfeit. The forfeit took place around 3:38 PM. In talking to the teams on Monday I was told they were good with a split championship and points as has happened in the past when weather pushed out the finish time. The conference is in action again this coming weekend in Cincinnati where the temperatures are supposed to be in the 40’s to low 60’s. If we use the Pro-M ball, God help us…

NOTE: the livestream has never worked very well in Cincinnati due to the park being at the bottom of a mountain away from cell towers. I would say, check the chat room to see if the livestream is working before purchasing, but I don’t think my phone will work in order to update the chat room…

I-57’s Steve Edwards tags out Kyle Pearson after an incredible throw by center fielder Dante Broome. The game was tied at 51-51 when this happened in the top of the 7th.
