Men’s Pocket City Dual #1

The Pocket City dual was a hot one full of smash mouth softball and a bunch of upsets. They played at the Deaconness Sports Park in Evansville, Indiana with its 8 turf 300-315-300 fields. In men’s dual #1 all 4 major teams were in the loser’s bracket before the winner’s final and it was Sports Reach doing most of the damage as they knocked off major teams Juno Athletics, Proton, and RoofX on their way to winning the winner’s bracket over Ataraxis 55-40 on Thursday. But in the loser’s bracket RoofX recovered, beating Juno 46-15 late Thursday night, Resmondo 51-41 and Ataraxis 35-16 on Friday morning, and then they “double dipped” Sports Reach 23-8 and 32-8 to win the tournament.

Women’s Pocket City Dual #1

18 of the top Women’s teams in the country also played a dual starting on Thursday evening at 5 pm central time. The #1 ranked team in the nation by points and computer rankings, Derby Girls (WA-Major) knocked off Juno Athletics 24-14 in the winner’s final and then Team 24 (TX-Major) 23-8 after Team 24 had won two games in extra innings to force the “if” game.

1st Place – Derby Girls/Resmondo/OA/SIS (WA-Major)

2nd Place – Team 24/Suncoast/Native (TX-Major)

3rd Place – Juno Athletics / LSR (NJ-Major)

4th Place – Bellys/TSC/MPS/Godbey Law (IN-A)

Men’s Pocket City Dual #2

Men’s Dual #2 began Friday as Dual #1 was finishing. Again there were upsets of 3 Major teams and only Resmondo made it to the winner’s final out of the 4 top teams. Ataraxis took advantage of the vacuum caused by the other 3 Major teams losing and then they knocked off Resmondo in the winner’s final 38-25 on Saturday night. On Sunday morning Resmondo scratched out a 41-39 win over Proton to get back to Ataraxis in the championship, but Ataraxis beat them in the final game 44-39 to win their 4th tournament of the year.

In Women’s Dual #2 Juno Athletics knocked off Team 24 14-9 in the winner’s final Saturday night but was “double dipped” 13-12 and 11-5 by Team 24 in the championship on Sunday.
