2024 Men’s Seattle Dual #1
1st Place – Bay Area Legends (CA-A)
The Annual Seattle Dual was played on the Hogan Park 300 foot fields in Kent, Washington on June 27th and 28th. The tournament began Thursday evening with 10 teams including 5 from the Conference USSSA league. After two “play in” games, the 5 Conference teams jumped into action in the “Final 8”. Cheap Suits/Republic Realty (CA-A) scored 13 runs in the top of the 2nd and led the local Kent, Washington Axe ‘B’ team 28-12 midway through the game and Cheap Suits went on to win 34-19 by the run rule in 5 innings. Conner Larson, Nick Guillen, Tanner Westmoreland, and Duante Freeman were all 4-4 in the win. In the 1st Conference vs Conference matchup, NFM Lending/KB/Chasse/Be Happy (AZ-A) jumped out to a 12-3 lead on CutThroatSports/Coursey Realty/Soarse (CA-B) and held on to win 25-18 as both teams hit 8 HR out of the 12 they were allowed. Richard Rollice was 4-4 in the win and Ryan Murphy and Johnathan Sierra drove in 5 runs each. Then Classic Glass/Easton the only ‘AA’ team in the tournament, beat a very good non-conference ‘B’ team from Washington – GTL/Dirty/Legacy/DRDrywall/AZGM (WA-B) 56-34 in a shootout. And Bay Area Legends (CA-A) scored 17 in the top of the 4th to separate and beat Fatboy/K&T Contracting (CA-B) 36-12.
In the semifinals Cheap Suits trailing NFM Lending 25-17, scored 23 runs in the bottom of the 4th and left NFM on the field 44-29 scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th. Carlos Abrigo was 5-6 with 3 HR and 10 RBI and Dale Swinford and Nick Guillen were both on base 6-6 in the win. And Bay Area Legends scored 14 in the bottom of the 1st and cruised to a 32-19 win over Classic Glass.
In the winner’s final Friday Cheap Suits led Bay Area 13-10 going into the top of the 7th where Bay Area scored 14 runs to pull out a 24-13 win, holding Cheap Suits scoreless in the bottom of the 7th. In the loser’s bracket Classic Glass beat CutThroatSports 40-6 and held off a late charging NFM Lending 34-32 to make it to the loser’s final. In that game Cheap Suits scored 8 runs in the bottom of the 7th and beat Classic Glass on a walk off single by Duante Freeman 41-40! Cheap Suits out of home runs and needing 8 to win had 9 base hits and a walk in the inning and Demario Boyd was 6-6 on base with 4 HR and 8 RBI in the game.
In the championship Cheap Suits jumped out to a 9-2 lead in the first inning. Both Cheap Suits and Bay Area scored in every inning and Cheap Suits, outscoring Bay Area 15-6 in the last two innings forced the “if” game with a 32-24 victory. Brandon Traylor and Daunte Freeman were each on base 5 times in that one. In the final game Cheap Suits put up a couple of zeroes early on and trailed Bay Area 20-1 at one point. Bay Area ended up beating them in 6 innings 30-15 to win Dual #1.

Men’s Seattle Dual #2
1st Place – Cheap Suits/Republic Realty/ESP (CA-A)
Dual #2 began Friday night and ended Saturday with the same 10 men’s teams, only in this tournament it was UNLIMITED HOME RUNS on the 300 foot fields with 80 foot bases! After the 2 “play in” games, Cheap Suits run ruled Fatboy 34-19 scoring 17 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. Rookie Matt Valencia who was moved to leadoff and Demario Boyd were on base 5-5. Classic Glass 20 run ruled CutThroatSports 34-14. NFM Lending behind the offense of Jordan Spaulding, Danny Higa, and Johnathan Sierra who were all on base 6-7 beat GTL 42-38. NFM Lending hit 23 home runs in the game! And J&I a local team upset Bay Area Legends 35-32 when Bay Area put up the only zero of the game in the bottom of the 6th.
On Saturday in the “Final 4”, Cheap Suits out homered Classic Glass 19 to 10 as they beat them 29-21 scoring 11 runs on 7 homers in the top of the 7th. And NFM Lending scored 32 combined runs in the 4th-5th-6th innings to beat J&I 39-24 hitting 18 HR in the game. CJ Shepherd was 6-6 with 2 HR and Wyatte Velasco was 5-5 with 4 HR and 8 RBI in the win. In the winner’s final Saturday evening Cheap Suits jumped out to a 19-2 lead and beat NFM Lending by the run rule 34-19 in 6 innings out homering them 16-12. For Cheap Suits, Matt Valencia was 5-5 with 4 HR and 9 RBI and Carlos Abrigo was 5-5 with 5 HR and 10 RBI.
Meanwhile in the loser’s bracket Bay Area Legends who had won Dual #1 and then lost to J&I in their first game of Dual #2 was running through the loser’s bracket sending home Axe 29-11, GTL 26-10, Classic Glass 36-16, CutThroatSports 51-31, and NFM Lending 26-11 to make it all the way back to the championship! The veteran Bryson Baker going 5-5 in that last win over NFM Lending. But in the championship Cheap Suits out homered Bay Area 22-11 and won in 6 innings 45-25. Demario Boyd went off, going 6-6 with 6 HR and 10 RBI and Carlos Abrigo was 6-6 with 3 HR and 8 RBI in the win. It was Cheap Suits 2nd Conference tournament win of the season.

Derby Girls/OA/Miken/Easton/Worth (WA-Major) run ruled their way through their first 3 games of the Seattle Dual #1 Thursday and Friday in Kent, Washington. But were upset in the championship 12-11 by MyAutoJack/BluePearl/Graham Sports, losing with the bats in their hands in the bottom of the 7th needing 2 to tie and 3 to win. So MAJ forced the “if” game where Derby beat MAJ 28-5 as Fiana Finau went 5-5 and Ashley Langoni hit 2 home runs. Ashley Langoni and Fiana Finau were over .900 on base for the 1st dual with Langoni hitting 5 HR and driving in 16 runs in the tournament. It was Derby Girls 4th tournament win of the season and 3rd in a row. Prime/Smash It Sports (CA-A) was 3rd and Eat it/TSA/BiGKid/GearfromZ (CA-B) was 4th in the 10 team tournament.

In Dual #2 Saturday Derby Girls put up some big offensive numbers and won their 5th tournament of the season. MyAutoJack again took second and NCN/BigKid was 3rd and Prime/SIS 4th. Derbies Megan Baltzell was 4-4 with 3 HR and 6 RBI in the final game as she led the offense in the tournament at .842, 9 HR, and a whopping 25 RBI.
