Conference USSSA’s last big regular season event of 2024 was a dual tournament held at the Deaconess Park in Evansville, Indiana on 8 all turf infields with 300-310-315-310-300 home run fence dimensions. The weather was nice but humid and the wind blew out on the show field the entire 4 days. It was a long 4 days of softball but fairly predictable as RoofX/BadDraw/CE/Pure/Envy (IN-Major) the #2 team in the nation rolled undefeated through a stacked field of 26 teams, beating Sonny’s/Worsham/RedAthlete/Haymak/R (WY-Major) in their opener and beating the #1 team in the nation Resmondo/All American Restoration/O (FL-Major) 47-43 in the winner’s bracket finals late Thursday night, and again 37-17 in the championship game on Friday at noon. The ‘AA’ teams Nitro Circus (MD-AA) was 3rd and Sports Reach (KY-AA) 4th. I have 15 condensed games coming out over the next two weeks from this tournament. The women of the Conference were also playing a dual with the 1st one beginning on Thursday night. 17 of the top teams in the nation were in attendance. Team 24 / Native (FL-Major) went undefeated beating Derby Girls 12-10 in the winner’s bracket finals and Monsta/LaFamiglia 16-5 in the championship. It was Team 24’s 3rd tournament win of the season.

Men’s Pocket City Dual #2
Arliss Miller and RoofX deliver “two scoops”.
Dual #2 for the men began on Friday night and ended Sunday. RoofX began rolling through the tournament just like they had the 1st tournament and going into the winner’s bracket finals they were 24-0 on 300 foot fields in 2024. The winner’s final started with a very focused Roofx team jumping out to leads of 15-0 and 21-6. But Sonny’s never gave up and scored 26 of the last 30 runs in the game and beat RoofX 32-24. On Sunday RoofX rolled through Nitro Circus 40-9 and then “double dipped” Sonny’s 33-18 and 42-30 to win their 5th tournament of the season and take over the Conference Points lead going into the Conference Championships in September which are in Alabama. RoofX now leads Resmondo by 24 points in the standings which award the top finishing team the #1 seed for the Major World Series and they get to be home team in each of their games..

For the women in Dual #2 which started on Saturday morning and ended Sunday, it was Derby Girls/OA/Miken/Easton/Worth (WA-Major) going undefeated beating Team 24/Native (FL-Major) in the winner’s final 17-11 and Monsta/LaFamiglia (FL-Major) 16-6 in the championship. Although Monsta maintains the points lead by 32 points over Derby Girls. It was Derby’s 6th tournament win of the season.
