Conference USSSA heads to Evansville, Indiana’s Deaconess Sports Park for the “Pocket City” Dual Major this week starting Thursday morning at 8 AM CENTRAL time. There are 25 men’s Conference teams and 17 women’s teams from all over the country entered in the tournament! The weather looks warm and humid. There is artificial turf infields on all 8 fields at the complex, and the fences are 300-315-300. Remember they have the coconut husk mixed into the turf instead of the normal rubber pellets which makes for a different bounce than infielders are used too. So make sure to take some infield practice to get used to the bounce or lack thereof. There are some big points up for grabs and 180 + (25 x 4) = 280 points to the winner. 240 for 2nd, 220 for 3rd, 210 for 4th, 200 for 5th and so on. Resmondo grabbed the lead in the points by 76 points at the Smoky Mountain Classic last month will try to hold onto that lead over RoofX who hasn’t lost a game on 300 foot fields this year. Meanwhile Juno Athletics looks to continue their momentum after they finished 2nd at the Smoky and try and jump into that top 4 in the points. And Sonny’s who won the Evansville Dual #2 last year could mathematically leap to 3rd if they somehow won both tournaments. Check out the points scenarios down below in this preview.
