BTR finishes off Cheap Suits in the Championship with a double play!

BTR a Conference ‘B’ team out of Utah went undefeated to win the 2022 “Softball City” Oregon Major in Salem, Oregon at the Wallace Marine Sports Complex this past Friday and Saturday. There were 13 teams overall and 5 from the Conference USSSA and all 5 finished in the top 5 spots in this tournament. BTR knocked off Bay Area Legends/Vivid (CA-B) in the “Round of 8” 20-18 Friday night, then upset Classic Glass/Easton (CA-AA) 26-23 in the “Final 4” getting a double play to end the game, and Cheap Suits/Dirty/Republic RE (CA-A) 18-12 in the winner’s final Saturday. In the loser’s bracket Bay Area/Vivid won 3 straight before Classic Glass dropped down and beat them 23-10 and Bay Area/Vivid finished 4th. Cheap Suits then dropped down and upset Classic Glass 25-12 to make it to the championship. In the final game BTR scored 13 runs in the top of the 2nd inning and held on to beat Cheap Suits 24-23 getting a ground ball double play to end the game in the bottom of the 7th. Cheap Suits out homered BTR in that game 8-6. The tournament was a “Special 180 point event” so BTR scored 180 + (5 x 4) = 200 points in the battle to make the USSSA Major World Series.

Women’s Oregon Major

Fresh hits against SmashItSports/SFK in the championship.

SmashItSports/SFK/Easton/Miken a ‘AA’ team out of California won the 11 team Oregon “Softball City” women’s Major this past Saturday, June 25th in Salem, Oregon at the Wallace Marine Sports Complex. They went undefeated beating Momentum/SNC (UT-B) 15-2 in the winner’s bracket finals and the unlikely Fresh/SparkApparel/Str8Play California ‘D’ team 12-2 in the championship. Momentum ended up 3rd and VDN/CheapBats.com/OA/Easton/Miken (CA-B) finished 4th.
