The Salt Lake City dual was colorful and had some great mountain views.
A full report, picture album, condensed games, video clips, and rankings coming this week on ConferenceUSSSA.com! Unfortunately the red eye flight home, the holiday with the family, and the sheer amount of content I videoed from Utah have me behind on everything. Thanks for your patience.
Conference USSSA headed to Salt Lake City this past holiday weekend (September 2-4) for the Classic Dual event at the South Jordan Softball Complex with its 300 foot fences. The high altitude paired with 10% humidity made the ball absolutely fly even though they used the Dudley Pro-M bad batch ‘DV’ coded balls and at times the temperature reached 100 degrees. To win you basically had to score 40 runs and the team that did that consistently was Competitive Edge/Olmito Heat/Suncoast (FL-AA) who won dual #1 over Anarchy/SmashItSports/Beloli/OA (NY-A) in the “if” necessary game on Saturday and then turned around and rolled through the 17 team Dual #2 undefeated beating Proton/Legacy Glove Co. (AZ-AA) in both the winner’s final and championship game. If you like scoring, laser’s, and long home runs then check out the video clips and upcoming condensed games from Utah this week on the USSSALive YouTube channel! Also Brandon Streets from Anarchy pretty much wrapped up the batting title by hitting over .800 on base percentage in over 50 at bats. And Suncoasts Tyler Ervine wrapped up the Conference home run title (150) by hitting 26 in the Utah dual. Tyler will be a guest on this weeks Hit & Sit Show as well. Anarchy’s valiant attempt at winning dual #1 would have put them in the top 18 for the USSSA Major World Series but they came up just short but earned enough points to put them in position to possibly slip in with a good run in Kansas City in two weeks for the Last Chance. Check out the KC points scenarios here.
