Conference USSSA heads to the “Crown Town” Classic this weekend at the Mid America Sports Complex in Shawnee, Kansas for the 2nd year in a row. They have now put artificial turf on all of their fields. The men’s Major has 23 teams from from 10 different states and the tournament begins at 6:30 PM CENTRAL time Friday and they bring back 4 teams on Sunday. They will play down to the “Final 8” in the winner’s bracket on Friday night and those 8 will play back to back on the show field #4 on Saturday all the way until someone wins the winner’s bracket starting at 9:30 AM. The field of teams is led by Nightmare the only ‘AA’ team in the tournament from Missouri. They will be challenged by Cheap Suits (CA-A), LundMortgage (AZ-A), Stars (CO-A), DirtyVegas (TX-A), and a number of regional teams like Hubs Pub, Siteman, the fan favorite Rock Run/Silverbacks, and a couple of non-conference ‘A’ teams T’s13 and Performance Glass. The fields are 300 foot and they will use the Dudley Pro-M ball with 8-12-14 HR limits. There is rain in the forecast. This will also be the site of the 2022 Conference Championships this September.
REMINDER: Anyone taking game balls can be removed from the park and suspended from the tournament.
On the women’s side there are 9 teams and they start at 8:00 AM Saturday morning and finish on Saturday. Lady Klutch/Broughton/Nitro from Arkansas is the only Major team. Remember to check out the Women’s Conference weekly update here.

Does Rock Runs popularity after beating Resmondo and MPT back to back in Chicago transfer into being able to win 5 games in one Conference tournament? Can Cheap Suits who came up just short in Oregon last weekend travel cross country and take the win? Will LundMortgage who we haven’t seen play in awhile put one together? Can Nightmare (just 3-3 vs ‘A’ teams) turn around their season with a big win? Could a non-conference team like T’s 13 steal everyone’s thunder (points) or could a Stars, Dirty Vegas, or a local team like Hubs Pub or Siteman put a run together? Whoever wins will get 165 + (10 x 3) = 195 points which will be a big step forward for them in qualifying for the USSSA Major World Series!
Rock Run is the highest team in this tournament as far as the 2022 Computer Rankings go.
