“Battle at the Beach”
Myrtle Beach, SC
May 6-8
Tournament Preview
First and most important, HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to all of the women in our lives that let us play this silly game! Everyone involved in the Conference should petition to start the Myrtle Beach Major early Friday morning so we can finish on Saturday night and take the first flight home on Sunday to make Mother’s Day celebrations.
The 3rd Myrtle Beach Major is this coming weekend. It features a quality field of 15 Women’s teams who are playing a Dual event with the first tournament starting Friday morning at 9 AM and ending Friday night. The second women’s dual starts Saturday morning and ends with 3 teams coming back on Sunday. All 5 Women’s Major teams will be there! The men’s event is also stacked with 21 teams overall and 15 of them are from Conference USSSA including all 4 Major and 4 AA teams. The men’s tournament starts on Friday at 4:00 PM eastern Friday and brings back 4 teams on Sunday. The tournament is held on the 7 – 325 foot fields at beautiful Grand Park with the normal 8-12-14-16 home run limits and the Dudley Pro-M ball. The fields are artificial turf except for the pitchers mound and batters box which is dirt. The weather looks pretty great!
The livestream is going to be done by Grand Parks own streaming equipment which USSSAlive.com will tie in to. USSSALive.com and the new chat room on ConferenceUSSSA.com will be up for updates and to answer your questions.
The local non conference teams will take their upset shots on Friday night but there should be some epic battles between Major teams on the big fields. Resmondo is still very short handed missing Clark and Santana who are suspended, and Briggs, Bazat, Pearson, and Jones are injured. Smash It and Monsta are the hot teams right now and they will most likely be standing at the end of this tournament and MPT is missing John Williams and Flip Washington due to suspensions and haven’t quite been on track since the double dip in Las Vegas. MPT did pick up pitcher Bill Pinkham though and they hope that will spark the defense. And S&E, Competitive Edge, Chick Fil A, and Sports Reach look to try and slip into the top 4 this weekend.
