Interview conducted on 1/14/2017
Who are you playing with in 2017?
Currently talking with an A team but uncertain of how it's going to play out.

What positions do you play and what is your best position?
Who is the best softball player you have ever seen play?
Obviously all of the big names. Pearson is an upcoming star for sure. When it comes to first-hand experience I'd have to say my BP partner Steven Lopez (Stuey). He's just a flat out hitter and very difficult to get out. It helps that he's a nice guy too.
Why do you like the game of softball?
Fuels my competitive edge. Working out also does it for me but I enjoy the fast-paced nature of the game and team environment – every at bat something is happening. Traveling with a group of guys can also be fun some times.
Who is the best up and coming player in softball and why?
I could say Stuey again but he's not an up and comer anymore. There's a lot of talent floating around So Cal. You easily have the pickings here to form a couple of Conf. teams.
What is your nickname in softball and how did you get it?
Mac/Big Mac – not that creative….
What is your height and weight?
6'3" – 290
Where do you call home?
Long Beach, CA
What's your favorite way to spend an off weekend?
Sleep in and then go out to breakfast with my family – anything with family and friends.
What do you do for a living?
Did you play sports in High School / College / Pro?
High school baseball and golf.
How did you get your start in softball and how did you get to the upper level?
Started playing recreationally about a decade ago. I've had a cup of coffee with a Conf. team here and there but the teams always folded. It's made me see how hard it is to run a team from a sponsor's perspective.
What was the most surprising difference between Conference play and non-Conference play when you made the jump?
Everyone hits and everyone fields. There are very little weaknesses out there.
Is there a player that you would compare your game to?
This question seems presumptuous to me so I'll just say that I hit with power, a lot, and have also worked a ton on hitting line-to-line.
What would you say is your career highlight to this point? Maybe one play or game that sticks out to you in particular?
I don't know if it's a career highlight necessarily but I competed in a HR derby a couple years back and won against some "names".
What advice can you give a young player trying to break into the upper level?
Getting into Conf. ball takes a lot of talent and a lot of connections. You have to be at the right place at the right time and get seen by the right person.
What type of batting grip do you use and what ounce bat?
Drop pinky. I swing a 26 oz. and get made fun of it often.
What do you do in the offseason to prepare for the next softball season?
I live in So Cal so there's really no off season. I work out throughout the week and take BP.
What is your favorite sports team and your favorite sport other than softball?
Don't really have a favorite sports team but I love Bowl season and March Madness. I'm a big fan of Formula 1 racing.
What would be your "at bat" music selection?
Probably something from Deftones or Queens of the Stone Age.
What is the best improvement upper level softball could make?
Limit Major players. Besides that I think the game is great despite what TM says
What is your favorite non-World tournament and why?
Toys 4 Tots in Palm Springs hands down.
What is the best softball field/complex you have played at and why?
I like the turf BLD in Texas. Great complex.
What is the funniest thing you have ever seen on a softball field?
I play a backyarder around Christmas time and this year the host stripped naked and streaked across the field. He ended up tackling the SS and well……
Tell us something about you that most would never know about you?
I was a pastor in a former life.
