With just 2 regular season tournaments left on the 2014 Nationwide Conference USSSA schedule, the points battles are heating up! The two super power teams Resmondo-Specialty Tank/Worth and #2 Laservision/H Auto/JJ’s/Easton have dominated the regular season. Laservision won their first 6 tournaments of the season and then Resmondo has won the last 6 including the prestigious 32nd annual Dudley Budweiser and the 46th Annual Smoky Mountain Classic. But it wasn’t until just 10 days ago that Resmondo finally captured the #1 spot in the Conference point standings after their win in Cincinnati. Resmondo is trying to push their streak of 8 consecutive regular season Conference championships to 9.
So while Resmondo and Laservision fight for first place, positions 3-5 are battling for better seeding for the Major World Series. As is positions 6-9. Remember the top 16 teams qualify for the major world series. If we look further down at teams currently ranked 10-22 we realize there are still 13 teams with a mathematical chance to qualify for the big show in September!
And the points battles don’t end there. Towards the bottom of the point standings, teams 15-37 are still fighting to get into the top 36 which would mean their sponsor will get a check for $2,000 travel money and free hotel rooms at their respective world tournament.
