Conference Team Classification Guidelines
MENS PROGRAM
Player Classification policy and point system: To help us with classifying each team in the Conference, players are rated by points. This is one of many criteria used in classifying teams.
For Example:
A player on the Major Player list will have a point value of 1.25
A player on the Watch List will have a point value of .75
The total point value guideline below should be used in trying to determine your classification. Keep in mind that this is only a guideline and the classification of each team will be determined by the Conference USSSA Classification Committee. Points are an off-season, team building guide and an in-season maximum.
Major – Unlimited
AA – 9 points (11.0 Season Cap)
A – 3.5 points (5.0 Season Cap)
B – 1.50 points (2.5 Season Cap)
New for 2025 – No more than 5 players on the Major Player list are allowed to be on a AA roster together regardless of points
A maximum of four (4) committee approved players from a higher class will be allowed to be added to a lower Conference USSSA classified A or B team.
Without Conference USSSA Classification Committee approval, no more than three (3) players from the previous year World Championship Team at the AA, A, or B level may reside on the same level team as they won the Championship. Example: Team X wins the A World Tournament. Only three (3) players from that respective team can compete on the same team together in the A Division the following year.
New for 2025 – If there are 5 or more players on any roster who are of a higher level starting the year off the team will automatically be classified as a TBD team.
Teams will be classified to preserve the competition in each division if necessary. The top teams in AA, A, and B will be notified when they can no longer improve their roster within the respective division. Therefore, if the committee has made the decision that a roster move has improved the team’s overall classification, the committee reserves the right to move the team up in classification. The committee also reserves the right to move a team down in classification, if they feel the team’s roster is better suited for the lower division of play.
To assist you in determining your classification, the current Major Player list and Watch list are available on the USSSA website at http://www.usssa.com/slowpitch/majorPlayerList To appeal placement, a player must email: [email protected].
This should eliminate the confusion of team classification throughout the year and make for even better parity amongst teams at our World Tournaments.
