Men’s Conference Championship
Conference Championship Results & Bracket Link
The Conference Championship was played at the Mid America Sports Complex in Shawnee, KS Friday and Saturday, September 18-19. Most of the games were played on the all turf baseball fields with the Dudley Hardcore ball and normal Conference Home Run Limits. There were 16 teams on the men’s side. Friday night #1 seeded Resmondo beat Vivid by the run rule 31-6, struggled past WestPoint 38-36 in the quarterfinals, then survived Shore OL 32-29 in the semifinals Saturday afternoon to make it to the winner’s final. Resmondo was a little banged up, didn’t play Travis Clark or Steele Lewis, and Jeremy Yates did not make the trip. #3 Dan Smith run ruled Combat MFG 29-9 and beat Greinert 32-17 Friday. Then on Saturday afternoon they finally run ruled Dirty Vegas 45-30 and out slugged Resmondo 47-34 to win the winner’s bracket finals with rookie pickup Jeremiah Yoder from Team Indiana Border Battle fame doing the pitching. Meanwhile in the loser’s bracket WestPoint knocked off BeHappy 39-19, I-57 Roofing 23-8, Dirty Vegas 35-17, and they upset Juno Athletics 46-40 in the 4th place game. Then Saturday night in the loser’s bracket finals vs Resmondo, WestPoint trailed Resmondo 36-30 in the 6th inning when the tournament was delayed and then cancelled due to lightning. It was 10:01 PM central time when the lightning delay started. So they would have had to play another inning and then Resmondo would have had to double dip Dan Smith for there to be anymore changes in the points standings. And that 2.1 games would have had to finish by the 1 AM curfew is what I was told. So with games between Resmondo and Dan Smith lasting two hours it would have been called off anyways before they could finish. As it is Dan Smith by winning the tournament finished 2nd in the points standings ahead of Juno for the 1st time all season.

Women’s Conference Championship Results & Bracket Link
On the women’s side there were 18 teams in the Conference Championship and 17 of them were league teams. They played Saturday and Sunday at the Mid America Sports Complex in Shawnee, KS on the 300 foot all turf fields with the Dudley Hardcore ball. LaFamiglia won the clash of Major teams in the quarterfinals 22-19 over Incognito. Then with 4 Major teams making it to the semifinals, Derby Girls beat LaFamiglia 15-10 and #1 seeded Juno Athletics beat Team 24 19-9. With Juno winning the winner’s final over Derby Girls 27-24 on a walk off grand slam home run by Jenna Warner! In the loser’s bracket ‘A’ team Broughton Invest (VA-A) knocked off Eat It 19-14, TSC 31-21, and LaFamiglia 16-12 before losing to Team 24 Sunday morning 30-23 to finish 4th. Then Team 24 lost to Derby Girls in the loser’s final 29-11. In the championship Derby Girls forced the “if” necessary game with a high scoring 44-32 victory over Juno, but neither team could continue due to flights and decided to double forfeit due to illegal players on both teams being on the field, and the tournament win was given to Juno with Derby finishing 2nd. Which is also the way they finished in the regular season points standings.
