2014 Nationwide Conference: 2nd Annual “Demarini Classic”

Classic Glass/Easton from Northern California went undefeated to win the 2nd Annual “Demarini Classic” in Portland, Oregon.  They beat AZM/3n2/Easton 16-8 in the winner’s bracket final on Saturday night and Team Combat/Softball.com impressively 22-17 in the championship leading the whole way.  The games on the main field were livestreamed by Strojan Kennison the director in impressive fashion.  One of the highest quality livestreams I have viewed.  Fans were even able to read the scoreboard.  Anyways, Classic was impressive using base hitting to get to their big home run hitters Filip Washington, Tyson Steele, and Cal Ford.  Team Combat who lost on Friday night to a good ‘C’ team called Upper Deck 39-38 rattled off 5 straight in the loser’s bracket to finish 2nd.  AZM from Arizona who had their best tournament of the year finished 3rd, and West Coast Newbreed/Worth from Seattle was 4th.  The tournament was played in beautiful weather on 300 foot fields with a group of top Conference umpires.  The tournament had some nice upsets from the non-conference teams but in the end the top 4 finishers were all from the Nationwide Conference USSSA series.
